Animei Companion · extension

Your anime site + subtitles and dictionary on top

Companion is a browser extension. You keep watching anime where you're used to, and Companion overlays Japanese subtitles with a translation and a one-click dictionary right on top of the video. Words go into the same collection as in the web app.

How it works

Any player becomes a Japanese trainer

01

Subtitles overlay the video

Start an episode on your site and turn on Companion. Japanese subtitles with a translation appear over the player, with a compact control panel in the corner: auto-pause and translation toggle.

02

One-click dictionary — like in the app

Click a word in the subtitles and the same card appears: meaning, reading, part of speech and the full phrase. The “Add to collection” button saves the word — you don't even have to stop the video.

One collection for everything

Companion uses the same account as the web app. Words collected on any site land in the same collection — review them in the app, from your computer or your phone.

The same hotkeys

A replay the line, S auto-pause after each one, D next. If you're used to the app, your hands already know what to do here.

Installation

Set up Companion — two minutes

The extension works in Chrome and any Chromium-based browser: Edge, Opera and others.

From the Chrome Web Store

Companion is coming to the Chrome Web Store soon — one-click install with automatic updates. Until then, use the manual install: it's easy.
