How can we help?

We've collected answers to the most common questions. Can't find yours — just write to us, we reply fast.

Where do I start?
The easiest path is the web app: the catalog, player and dictionary are already inside, nothing to install. If you're used to watching anime on a specific site — install the Companion extension, it overlays subtitles and the dictionary right there.
I can't find an anime in the catalog. What do I do?
Try a different spelling of the title — English, romaji or the original (for example “Attack on Titan” or “Shingeki no Kyojin”). If the show still isn't there, write to us and we'll see if we can add it.
Subtitles lag behind or run ahead
It happens: different releases of an episode have slightly different timing. The player syncs the subtitles to the audio automatically — usually you don't need to do anything. If it's still slightly off, reload the episode.
How do I install the app on my phone?
Animei installs straight from the browser, no App Store or Google Play. On Android: Chrome menu → “Add to Home screen”. On iPhone: Share in Safari → “Add to Home Screen”. The detailed guide with screenshots is on the web app page.
Companion doesn't show subtitles on a site
Check three things: the extension is enabled (the Animei icon is in the browser toolbar), a video is actually playing on the page, and the right show and episode are selected in the Companion panel. Still stuck — write to us and tell us which site you're watching on.
Is it free?
Yes. Animei is a personal project we build for learners like ourselves. The web app and Companion are free.
