Usage and nuance

One Piece is full of it, from 殴る価値もねえバカ息子, "a fool of a son not even worth punching", to Garp's "fist of love" for his grandson Luffy. In Dr. Stone it describes someone who is beaten without hitting back.

殴ってやる is a threat, "I'm going to punch you", and 殴り合い is a fistfight. Delinquent and yakuza characters use the word constantly.

For lighter hits Japanese says 叩く (tataku, to slap or tap). A kick is 蹴る (keru).
