Usage and nuance
Attack on Titan's cadets belong to the 訓練兵団, the Training Corps, and a recruit is glad that やっと兵士として訓練できる, "finally I can train as a soldier". Violet Evergarden asks about a trainee's progress with 訓練は順調なの?.
Every Japanese school runs 避難訓練 (hinan kunren), evacuation drills for earthquakes and fires, so the word is familiar from childhood.
Shounen heroes more often do 修行 (shugyou), personal, almost spiritual training under a master. 練習 (renshuu) is everyday practice, like piano or volleyball.
