Baka (バカ): meaning and how rude it really is
バカ
ばか · baka
Baka means "idiot", "fool" or "stupid", but tone makes all the difference. Friends may use it affectionately or to tease. Shout it at a stranger and it’s an insult.
Word by word

Baka in a sentence
バカ! means "Idiot!", a classic tsundere line. バカじゃないの? asks "Are you stupid or something?" Use バカみたい for "How dumb" or "I feel stupid". バカにする means "to make fun of someone".
Why region matters: baka and aho
In Kansai, including Osaka, アホ (aho) is the everyday word; baka can sound harsher. In Tokyo, it’s the other way around. Anime characters with a Kansai accent use aho.
