好きSuki: what it means in anime
すき · suki
liking; being fond of; to one's liking
Suki means "like" or "love". 好きです is the classic confession, "I like you", and it carries much more weight than the English "like".

Usage and nuance
Grammatically 好き describes the thing you like: 猫が好き is "I like cats", literally "cats are likeable to me". That is why the liked thing takes が, not を.
In romance anime the whole season can lead up to one 好きです. 大好き (daisuki) is "I really love it" and is used freely for food, hobbies and family, while 愛してる is a heavy "I love you" that most couples rarely say.
The opposite is 嫌い (kirai), "dislike", and the strong version is 大嫌い. A tsundere character shouting 大嫌い often means exactly the reverse.
